Volleyball

Volleyball in Shetland was hugely popular in the early to mid 1990s, when Shetland regularly competed at the Games. It has undergone a revival in recent years, since men’s and women’s teams were raised to take part in the 2005 Games in Shetland.   The sport has continued to grow locally with volleyball leagues attracting players to regular matches over the winter months.

The level of volleyball at the Games played at the Games is very high and the volleyball arena attracts a huge number of noisy and enthusiastic fans. Volleyball teams from Åland, Faroe, Bermuda and Saarema often dominate the competition.

Volleyball is not currently represented on the SIGA Committee.
