This year’s Shetland Island Games Team will have the backing of leading Scottish salmon producer Cooke Aquaculture Scotland, which has a strong company presence in Shetland.

Team Shetland will be competing at the 2019 NatWest International Island Games in Gibraltar in July, with an 87-strong team of competitors and officials competing in nine sports.

Cooke Aquaculture Scotland has provided £10,000 to assist with the costs of travel and accommodation for the team through their community sponsorship scheme.

Chris Duncan of Cooke Aquaculture Scotland said: “Supporting the communities in which we operate is at the heart of what we do and we’re proud to sponsor the Shetland squad for the Island Games through our community sponsorship scheme. We’re delighted to be able to support Team Shetland and wish them the very best of luck to all local athletes competing in Gibraltar.”

Lesley Hutchison, Vice Chair of Shetland Island Games Association said: “We’re pleased to have Cooke Aquaculture on board as an Associate Sponsor. Their financial contribution will reduce the cost of representing Shetland at this year’s Games in Gibraltar and we’re grateful for their support.”
