Sports
Team Shetland normally competes in up to 10-12 sports. The overall Team can number between 100-140 competitors and officials.

Archery
Shetland's archers have been regular participants at the Games since the first time that archery appeared in the sports programme, in Guernsey in 1987

Indoor bowls is popular sport in Shetland and has appeared at the Games twice - in Guernsey in 1987 and in Shetland in 2005. On both occasions Shetland bowlers have taken medals including a number of bronze medals and in 2005, a gold medal for June Bain and Margaret Burnett in the women's pairs event and a silver medal for the women's team

Cycling
Cycling is one of the most spectacular sports in the Games week, involving five events - the road race, time trial, road criterium and two mountain bike events - cross country and criterium. The standard of cycling at the Games is high, with some supremely fit and experienced riders from the Channel Islands, Bermuda, Faroe, Gibraltar, Menorca and Saaremaa.
